North East Derbyshire District Council is continuing to progress the Clay Cross Town Centre Regeneration Scheme, which is a key part of long‑term plans to support the town’s economy, businesses and community.
Inside Limited has ceased carrying out works on the scheme, and contractual matters are being addressed through the appropriate processes. As these matters are ongoing, it would not be appropriate to comment on further detail at this stage.
The Council recognises the frustration that delays and disruption have caused for local businesses, residents and visitors, particularly in relation to Market Street. The site is secure, and the Council’s immediate focus is on ensuring public safety, maintaining traffic management and permit compliance, and managing the area responsibly while the next stages of delivery are put in place.
Active arrangements are being progressed to enable works to continue and to minimise further disruption. The Council is working proactively to ensure that the regeneration programme can move forward in a coordinated and well‑managed way.
The Council has the best interests of the Clay Cross community and its businesses at heart and is passionate about seeing the town centre regeneration completed. The scheme is designed to create high‑quality commercial space, support local jobs and strengthen the long‑term vitality of the town centre.
Further updates will be shared as the project progresses and key milestones are reached.
