Pedestrianisation of Market Street and New Access via A61 to Market Street Car Park
As part of the ongoing improvements the Clay Cross Town Deal has brought to the town, we’re moving into Phase 3 of the road changes and town centre regeneration.
What will be happening:
- Permanent closure of Market Street (to vehicles) between Bridge Street and High Street to allow for pedestrianisation of the area. This will link up the businesses and new Baileys Square safely for pedestrians to utilise the shops in the town. Work will start in January 2026.
- New bollards installed at the Market Street car park. (Coming soon in 2026)
- Improved car park access directly from the A61. (Coming soon in 2026)
What does this mean for you?
- As always we will keep disruption will be kept to a minimum for our businesses and residents using the area.
- Pedestrian access to businesses on Market Street will remain unaffected throughout the works.
